One of the many types of Calathea this has abundant and very attractive broad silvery striped green leaves. It is native to Bolivia in South America.

This plant is grown in a peat-free medium, so you may find that the top soil tends to dry out a little faster – but don’t worry, just use your finger and test to see if the top 2-3 inches of soil are still moist, to avoid overwatering. You’ll also want to treat your plant to fertiliser during growing season, as you won’t find the same nutrients in this mix as you’d find in traditional soil.
